Community Days at Rootstock
Here on the hill, we know that Teamwork makes the dream work. We also know that humans are complex, language is limiting, and nothing is as easy as we hope it will be. Working, eating and sharing in community is powerful medicine. It’s invigorating, challenging, raw and real. It’s what built the world and what will build the new world. Re-villaging, if even for a few hours, reminds us of how to be together.
Community days are guided by the seasons and elements. The projects vary and no skills or experience is needed to participate. Bringing a willingness to work, a desire to learn, patience with the process and a sense of humor is optimal. Please bring a potluck dish to share, a water bottle and whatever you might need to be comfortable. You can come for some or all of the gathering as you wish.
Temple Building, as we call it, involves working with a group of people to help build and tend our beloved gathering space and imagination farm. Projects can range from gardening or moving fire wood to trail building, food preservation, construction and more. If you're curious to know what we'll be working on you're invited to get in touch. How we do what we do - consciously, collaboratively, artfully - is often more important than what we're doing. These workdays are incubators and playgrounds to relearn/unlearn how to work with other humans, how to disagree with grace, how to uplift and really embody what it means when the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
In 2024, we'll be calling in community support on an as-needed basis rather than on a formal schedule. Make sure you’re signed up to receive our monthly Love Letter to be notified of upcoming opportunities to get involved.
