Guests are required to bring their own towels, pillows, and bedding and/or sleeping bags. Every aspect of this cozy, eclectic cabin has been designed for comfort, joy, and beauty. The open-plan living area includes a wide assortment of comfy spots for lounging, as well as a dining table and well equipped kitchen (with truly delicious well water!). At the heart of the cabin is a wood stove that keeps the space luxuriously toasty on even the coldest of days, and wood and kindling will be provided. In warmer weather, enjoy the screened in sleeping porch complete with comfy couches for lounging and beautiful views of the Northeast Kingdom and Jay Peak.
If you’re seeking inspiration, you’ll love the assortment of books, crystals, oracle and tarot cards, and musical instruments that line the walls of this magical temple space, not to mention a pretty fun stash of games to play and a well-curated vinyl collection to really make your time here special.
On the upper level, you’ll find two rooms: the Sunrise Suite (our shared dormitory) and the Sunset Suite (with a single queen-size bed). The low couches in the main living area function as additional economical beds as needed, and daybeds allow for seasonal accommodation on the screened sleeping porch as well. Guests are required to bring their own bedding and towels.
Please note that both the Sunset Suite and Sunrise Suite are located on the upper level and must be accessed by a short, steep set of stairs. The bathroom is located on the primary living level, so accessing it during the night will require navigating a steep staircase.
Booking of the cabin is by special request only.
Campsites
Campsites at Rootstock are rustic, wooded, and have access to an off-grid outhouse and room for 1-2 tents accommodating 1-4 people per site. Most sites have access to, or space for, a campfire and we ask guests that they never leave fires unattended while camping here and take care to bring their own firewood.
Guests need to bring their own camping gear, tarps, bedding, towels, camp chairs, camp wood, water, etc. No trash or recycle bins are provided and guests should come prepared to pack out any trash they generate while here. A compost bin is available for any food scraps left behind.
The Tiny House
Sleeps: 2-3 (Queen loft + Couch)
Electricity: Off-Grid, USB Lights
Cooking: Propane range, foot-pump cold water sink
Toilet: Outhouse ~250 away
This little house offers up BIG comfort with a well-appointed kitchen space, beautiful furnishings, a propane heater and wood stove to keep things toasty (we provide wood and kindling!), a writing nook or workspace and a cozy queen-sized mattress in the loft.
Off-grid means the space has no running water or electricity but you'll have 6 gallons of fresh, potable water to use with a cool, foot-pump sink and fully charged USB lighting to see by. There is a 2-burner propane range as well as some basic condiments and cooking implements for your pleasure. There's no refrigeration so pack a cooler to leave on the stoop. A shared outhouse is about 300' away.
A comfy queen-size mattress and pillows are provided. Guests are required to bring their own bedding, pillows, and/or sleeping bags. Please note that the mattress is located in a sleeping loft with low ceiling clearance and is accessed by a short, steep set of stairs.
The Tiny House is currently reserved for the Rootstock Residency program.

The Toad
Sleeps: 1-2 (full size bed)
Electricity: Off-Grid, USB Lights
Cooking: Propane range, no water
Toilet: Outhouse ~150 away
Head Clearance: Ceiling is 6’2”
Vintage on the outside and with cozy, campy accommodations on the inside, this adorable off-grid rustic “glamper” is roofed and protected from the elements with covered outdoor space, a propane heater, the cutest wood stove you’ve ever seen, a small cook range, and a fire pit.
The Toad is lit with solar lights and is spacious and warm enough to lounge, read, cook, and hang out in. The full-sized bed is comfy, and there’s a chair, bench, and little table for lounging. A propane heater keeps things very toasty – sometimes too toasty – and it’s not uncommon to need to open a window to regulate the heat a bit. A shared outhouse is located nearby.
Guests are required to bring their own pillows, full-size bedding, and/or sleeping bags, as well as any towels they may need during their stay. Water is not provided. Guests should bring their own firewood if they plan to enjoy a campfire during their stay.
