An open source mystery school as a mycelial response to THE CALL that many are now feeling to step onto the Medicine Path as guides, coaches, sacred space holders, community builders, and beyond.

So many people are feeling called to help heal the world with plant medicine and with hundreds of certification programs and trainings popping up all over that want to ‘certify you as ready’, there are a lot of options for how you go about heeding The Call.

This new offering is a companion that can support you no matter which path you choose.

I’m Beana Bern and I’ve been at this for a while now and I have learned some things. I have learned a lot actually and, though I cannot certify you (or anyone!) as being ready for anything, I can share my wisdom and I can help you navigate the the path to your path. After 30+ years of psychedelic exploration, seven years of deep service as a full time medicine guide and conscious coach, and many thousands of hours steeped in the mycelial web of mystery and healing, I want to share what I know with people who want to listen and, ideally, apply this hard earned wisdom to their own devoted path of service.

Medicine work is a hot topic right now. There’s a lot of hype and hope that psychedelics are ‘the answer’ to the trials facing humanity in the Anthropocene. Many, many people are now feeling ‘called’ to the medicine. If you’re reading this, you’re probably one of them.

A year ago I began constructing something called the Rootstock Medicine Mentorship and, as I was building the architecture of that offering, Pluto transited into Aquarius and I realized that the old Piscean method of enrolling cohorts and structuring curriculum felt bulky, out of tune with what my work has taught me, and kind of obsolete. So, I listened. I set aside the creation of school and - BAM! - got gifted the vision of something better.

Yea, that’s right. I am going to simply pull back the veil on my work and my ways and let you in. It’s a modern spin on a very old tradition. The slow path of mentorship and apprenticeship has withered in our fast, modern machine and, though I am committed to keeping that tradition alive with real live apprentices here inside my work at Rootstock, The Root: Open Source Mystery School & Psychedelic Salon will afford more of you an opportunity to ask questions of an experienced guide, hear about real life lessons, and arrive into your medicine practice more deeply rooted in your authenticity, your humility, and - hopefully - your soft and attuned power.

There are many certification programs available to you right now. You can study with CIIS, IPI, Psychedelics Today, MAPS, Naropa and more options every day. You can steep yourself in curriculum and case studies and research and cohorts of clinicians and you can learn some stuff. Maybe you should. You can also run off to the Andes and find a medicine man or shaman or elder to take you under his wing and bring you into a wisdom tradition. Maybe you should do that too. You have many options available to you. You can also do what I did and just start working and hope to God that you are as gifted as you think you are and capable of doing no harm. This year long invitation into my practice, my ethos, my method and my madness can be a companion to whatever other paths you take.

This ‘coursework’ is not a certification program.

Participation does not ‘certify’ your readiness to sit with or serve medicine.

There is nothing quite like this offering and there might be a lot of reasons why that is but, with clarity in my heart that my work is worth sharing, I am making something happen.

This offering is for you if:

• You want a raw and real insight into the actual lived work of a full time medicine guide.

• You are an experienced, aspiring or new medicine guide or sitter who wants to deepen your capacity to serve and develop professionally

• You are a licensed medical practitioner (Doctor, Therapist, Nurse, Social Worker, Etc) who is looking for deep experiential insight into the medicine space to assess if and how this might be a direction you go with your practice

• You are an existing or aspiring Integration, Preparation, or Microdosing Coach who wants to support psychedelic healing outside of the journey space

• You want to learn the business of Guideship from a seasoned professional with a high integrity and thriving practice

• You want to work or serve in the medicine space and simply want a transparent and experienced guide to help you understand more about what that might be like

• You want to host retreats or sessions in your home, on your land, or at your center and you want to better vet/verify medicine practitioners and facilitators you’re considering hosting

• You have questions and concerns that you’d like a no nonsense radically honest perspective on

• Your own healing journey remains central to your path and you seek to continue to grow and soften as a human and crave conscious community

HOW IT WORKS:

Beana Bern will host a series of twelve, 2 hour live webinars once a month. The schedule of topics is below and each of these Zooms will comprise teachings and transmissions of lived experience, story telling and anecdotes of real life examples from her practice, and 45-60min each session set aside for questions from participants.

Classes fall on Sunday mornings, Tuesday or Wednesday Evenings and only registered participants will receive access to recordings. Recordings will remain available for the duration of 2025 and will disappear after the last class in December. Folks subscribing for the full years ‘curriculum’ will have priority to call in the topics we’ll cover in the second half of the year as well as access to a private Signal thread where Beana will participate in deeper discussions around the topics and field related questions. Questions for Zooms can be submitted ahead of time from registered participants and can also be asked live during the sessions.

You’re correct to notice that paying for the full year is MORE expensive than paying as you go. Why would making the year long commitment cost you more? Well, because it signifies your commitment to the coursework and study with Beana and she can’t help but ‘hold’ the folks in her containers. ‘Lifers’ comprising the first ever cohort of The Root (Class of 2025!) will get some extra time with Beana in Signal and a Retreat is brewing for 2026 where folks who took all the “classes” will get to come and practice and learn IRL. Whatever you think you know about how things ‘should’ work, Beana is following her nose and trusting this impulse to do something different.

The heavy hitting training programs are tens of thousands of dollars and many folks inside those trainings are still reaching out to Beana looking for more grounded and ‘lived’ insight into the work. Experience is the absolute best teacher and while you’re navigating how to gather your own, this is a wonderful way to explore The Work. The devotion and time invested into her practice is invaluable and Beana would like to see her insights, learnings, and experience benefit anybody orbiting the worlds of holding sacred space, facilitating retreats and plant medicine ceremonies, coaching folks on microdosing, land stewards and community builders, or really anybody who wants to talk shop from a grounded and practical place.
